If you're interested in volunteering but still have questions, or would like to be inspired by other volunteers, the HOWOGE Volunteer Day is just the thing for you!
Every spring, HOWOGE invites all active volunteers and interested parties to the Wohnungsmacherei (housing workshop). On this day, we honor the commitment of our tenants and provide information about the opportunities for neighborhood volunteerism. Already active volunteers present their neighborhood activities. They can develop their own ideas and activities "from neighbors for neighbors" and exchange ideas with others.
Participation is voluntary and free of charge.

The HOWOGE Neighborhood Box helps you equip and organize neighborhood events such as yard parties, flea markets, or shared meals in the courtyard.

1. Develop ideas – What action do I want to organize, when, where and how?
Examples:
- Neighborhood party or flea market
- Community garden, watering sponsorship or planting campaigns
- Garbage collection campaign

3. Make an appointment
We'll schedule an appointment and discuss the implementation and possible forms of support. If your volunteer idea is well received, we'll then sign a volunteer agreement (see sample). This agreement provides both parties with clarity about the rules, rights, and responsibilities of volunteering. If needed, the neighborhood box will be handed over.
4. Prepare neighborhood action
You should clarify the following questions at the beginning:
- Who will help?
- What do I need? What do I need to buy or rent?
- Do I have HOWOGE’s rules in mind?
- How do I advertise my campaign? Coordinate the application with HOWOGE.
5. Promote neighborhood action
All neighbors are invited and treated with respect. Choose different ways to raise awareness of your event:

Rules for implementing a neighborhood action
- This neighborhood event is for your community. The most important thing is that everyone has fun!
- The service must be open to all neighbors – regardless of gender, age, origin, education, or religion. Everyone is invited and treated with respect and appreciation.
- The neighborhood actions are expressly not a platform for organizations that advocate political, religious or other extremism.
