The Theater an der Parkaue in Berlin-Lichtenberg is a magnet for young people – HOWOGE tenants' children benefit from special offers.
The theater, then known as the "Theater of Friendship," opened its doors to young people as early as the 1950s. Since then, it has been a place for playful learning, exciting stories, and plays in which the audience is directly involved.
With three stages and a total of 600 seats, it is the largest theatre for young audiences in Berlin – and even the only state theatre for children and young people in all of Germany.
The program includes plays for the youngest children (from age three) up to young adults. Families are just as welcome as school classes and kindergartens, and all enjoy the performances. For first-grade children: Anyone enrolled in school in Lichtenberg can attend the theater free of charge with their entire class.
Exclusively for HOWOGE tenants' children
For children of HOWOGE tenants, the theater offered additional holiday workshops during the autumn break. HOWOGE children can get a real behind-the-scenes look through a taster internship for teenagers: whether sound or lighting technology, makeup or stagecraft – depending on their interests, the interns can get to know the workings of the theater better.

On stage, ready, go!
During Advent and Christmas, and on holidays, visitors of all ages can look forward to special performances, such as the family plays "Ox and Donkey" and "The Wishing Punch" based on the works of Michael Ende.
In February 2026, the program continues with, among other things, the premiere of "Wolf." Based on the well-known children's book by Saša Stanišić, the play tells a story for everyone aged ten and up about bullying and the power of friendship.
In addition to its regular program, the theater offers various workshops for theater-loving children and teenagers throughout the year. Just drop by Planet P and take off at the next Planet Party!
